Heirloom on the road in March

GA Mrkt Bulletin

We will be out and about in the community spreading the love and good food around this March.

Find us on March 2nd at The Classic Center from 11:30-1:00 for the Empty Bowl Luncheon benefiting the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia. Joel will be there with a big pot of chicken mull, serving it up alongside lots of other great Athens chefs and their soup specialties. The event is an opportunity for the Food Bank to raise awareness about hunger in our community and share about how the organization is growing.

On March 19th, we will be at the Second Annual School Lunch Challenge at Whitehead Road Elementary, where our chef, Joel Penn, will be doing a cooking demo geared towards children in the kitchen. The event features a competition between 4 teams composed of local chefs and Family and Consumer Sciences teachers, where the teams have to work within the daily school lunch guidelines for cost and nutrition to feed a room full of kids. Students from a variety of grade levels will judge, choosing their favorite meal to be served later on in the school year to all Clarke County schools. There will be several cooking demos during the event, as well as tabling from local non-profits and food centered organizations. This event is sure to be fun for the whole family.
