3rd Tuesday Tasting – South African Wines – February 21st

south african wines tasting

South Africa, the oldest of the new world wine growing regions, has oft been neglected when it comes to the modern wine palate. Cut off from new wine technologies and techniques because of apartheid, South African winemakers were behind the times when trade began again, but they have progressed by leaps and bounds in recent years, and their wines are now a force to be reckoned with. This tasting will guide you through the grape varietals being grown there, both of European influence, and those that are more indicative of place. We will taste a lovely Chenin Blanc, a Sauvignon Blanc that appeals to a wide variety of palates, a red blend developed by French settlers, a Pinotage that shows what can be done with the OG South African grape, and we will finish things off with a lovely earthy red blend from Mulderbosch that was made in homage to a loyal dog.

We are partnering with Empire Distributors and Uncommon Gourmet for this tasting. Leigh Daniels and Dave Wells are excited to tell you all about these wines. Call today to reserve your spot.
